Keeping Hifz Alive After You Finish
Completing the memorisation is the easier half. What follows is a daily habit, not an achievement.
Many students finish their hifz and then discover, a year later, that a third of it has quietly slipped away. This is not a failure of memory. It is what happens to anything that is not returned to.
A fixed daily portion is worth more than a long session once a week. Even one juz a day, read attentively rather than quickly, will hold the whole in place over a month.
Recite aloud, and if you can, recite to someone. Silent review hides mistakes from you; the tongue and the listener both catch what the eye lets pass.
And treat the days you miss gently. A review missed is made up, not mourned. Consistency over years is built by returning after the gaps, not by never having any.
